5 Steps For Building A Successful Email List

E-mail marketing is crucial for promoting, expanding and making money from any Internet business. If done correctly, you can expect to increase your online presence and customer reach dramatically, at the same time as increasing your profits and online conversions.

Building, targeting and maintaining a successful e-mail list isn’t easy. It takes time, focus and determination. However, once you’ve come to grips with the fundamentals of building your email list, and you understand how to target subscribers, you’ll be well on your way to creating a successful and valuable commodity. A commodity, that you and your business, will be able to benefit from for many years to come.

5 Successful List Building Strategies to Set Yourself Up For Success:

1. Market Research

Market research is an incredibly important stage in building any e-mail list. It’s imperative that you know and understand your target audience. If you don’t have this information thoroughly researched, your subscribers aren’t going to be targeted to your subject, product or niche.

A list that isn’t targeted isn’t going to very effective, so make you sure you work at this (it will pay off).

2. Don’t Over Complicate Things

Clarity is incredibly important. Do your best to ensure that your opt-in page is simple and easy to read. You don’t want to overload potential subscribers with unnecessary information or requirements. I’d recommend requiring potential subscribers to enter their e-mail address and name only, don’t bombard them with other requirements, like entering their date of birth, occupation etc. It may put them off.

3. Visibility

You need to set yourself up for success. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot by hiding your opt-in form. Your form should be visible on every page of your website. If it’s not, and the user has to search to find it, you run the risk of costing yourself potential subscribers.

4. Utilising Social Media

Nearly everyone has a Facebook account these days, it’s a great way to stay in touch with friends. But more importantly, it’s a great way to attract visitors and encourage subscribers to sign up to your list. Add an opt to your Facebook page, you’ll surprised at how well it converts.

5. An Offer They Can’t Refuse…

This is one of the most powerful and successful list building strategies there is. If you’ve done your market research, you should have a very good idea at what your target audience are looking for, needs and are willing to chase. With this information, it’s incredibly straightforward to tailor and produce, attractive incentives for them to sign up to your e-mail list. Great things to give away for FREE are; E books, audio books and exclusive special reports.

Building, maintaining and utilising the power of list building is a great way to increase sales, presence, and reach more potential customers. Once you’ve built your first list from the ground up, you’ll understand what works and what doesn’t.
